A week before the Olympia, Hungarian television told her story in a few lines. RTL’s Fókusz, on 19 September:
Two jobs, the household and the family, and alongside all of it she is preparing for her next big challenge. […] Alida, who started competing at 39, would like to finish around the top six this time.

On 25 September, at the Ms. Olympia in Las Vegas, Alida Opre finished sixth.

Six shows in fifteen weeks, five podiums. In women’s bodybuilding, only a win (or a top three at the Olympia or the Rising Phoenix) opens the door to the Olympia. She finished third, then second, then second again, and on the fourth try, in Atlanta, she won.
Three weeks later she was second in Bucharest behind Anastasia Korableva, and a month after that she was in Las Vegas.
From Physique to bodybuilding
She did not start in this division. From 2021 to 2023 she competed as a professional in Women’s Physique: fifth at the Bigman Weekend Pro and the Mr Big Evolution Pro, seventh at the 2023 Masters Olympia.
In 2024 she moved to bodybuilding. Her second show in the new division was the Alina Popa Classic Pro, and she won it.
The same year she stood on the Ms. Olympia stage for the first time and placed eleventh.
Eleventh, then sixth
Two years later she went back, and this time she came in with a number in mind. RTL reported the goal as the top six, and that is exactly where she finished.
She set a realistic target in public, on national television, and then hit it. She did it while holding down two jobs and running a family, in a sport she only began competing in at 39.
