The Figure Division: Rules, Criteria, Winning Measurements — A Reference
Last updated: 17 April 2026.
What Figure is
Figure is the IFBB Pro League and NPC division rewarding V-taper aesthetic: wide shoulders, small waist, developed quads, without the density of Physique or the mass of Women’s Bodybuilding. Introduced 2003; Figure Olympia launched 2003 (first winner Davana Medina).
Cydney Gillon held the Figure Olympia title 2017–2023 — tied for longest dynasty in the division’s history. Her 10-year run ended at the 2025 Olympia (see Dossier — Who Judges Ms Olympia).
Scoring axes
- Shoulder-to-waist ratio — the central axis; ≥1.5:1 is the competitive threshold
- Quad sweep + hamstring tie-in — visible but not striated
- Tight midsection — defined abs, not blocky
- Balanced upper-to-lower — no division dominates
- Skin tone, tan, condition — less hardness than Physique, more than Wellness
- Stage presence
