About Lynn Conkwright
Lynn Conkwright was an American bodybuilder who competed in women's bodybuilding during the 1980s, best known for her second-place finish at the 1981 Ms. Olympia Women's Bodybuilding division. Born in 1954, Conkwright emerged as a significant competitor during the early years of organized women's bodybuilding, when the sport was establishing itself as a legitimate athletic pursuit. Her career spanned from 1980 through at least the mid-1980s, during which she consistently appeared at the sport's highest level of competition.
Conkwright's competitive record reflects sustained presence at the Ms. Olympia stage across six consecutive years. Her peak performance came in 1981, when she secured second place in the Women's Bodybuilding division and placed third in the overall Ms. Olympia contest. In that same year and in 1980, she also reached third-place finishes in the Ms. Olympia competition. Throughout the early 1980s, Conkwright maintained top-eight status at the Olympia, with placements of fourth in both 1982 and 1983. Her competitive trajectory extended through 1985, though her placements moved outside the top-ten positions by the mid-decade, finishing 16th at the 1985 Ms. Olympia. Her final recorded appearance at the Olympia was in 1985. Conkwright passed away in 2017 at age 63. Her career coincided with a formative period in women's bodybuilding history, when the sport was developing standardized judging criteria and building a dedicated audience for female competitors at the professional level.
